Manager of Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health

Julie McLafferty, MA is the Manager of Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health for Peg’s Foundation’s Clear Pathways initiative.

In her last role, she worked as a Project Associate II for Policy Research Associates (PRA). She served as a Technical Assistance Coordinator to SAMHSA’s Community Crisis Response Partnership program grantees, where she guided and supported sites in high-need communities around the country in implementing and expanding their local crisis response programs.

Julie is one of the co-authors/co-editors of the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s 40-hour crisis intervention, de-escalation, and disability response national curriculum, titled Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT). This training prepares first responders in their response to people experiencing crises related to behavioral health conditions (including mental health conditions and substance use disorders) and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Julie a certified Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) mapping facilitator, as well as a certified Trauma Training for Criminal Justice Professional facilitator. She works across the criminal legal and behavioral health systems to bridge gaps in care and improve experiences for individuals who interact with these systems.
